After a couple of weeks, you really start to notice the quirks and eccentricities of your little angel/monster. Edie seems to hold her ground among the 50th percentile. At her finest, she is a sleeping beauty, stoic as she slumbers.
She is too young to express many emotions with her face, but when she’s deep asleep, her smile shows her true face. I won’t say “at her worst”, because she can’t do anything wrong yet. Baby acts according to her immediate needs. Hungry baby shows “sour face”.
One of my favorite looks she gives is one I call “Gene Simmons Face”. When it’s not obvious that a wide eyed, open mouthed Edie is only interested in mother’s milk, she will become grumpy. She can poke her tongue out so far, it looks like she wants to rock ‘n roll all night and party every day. Sadly, her mother and I have not been able to photograph that elusive Sasquatch.
If Mom’s at work and Dad’s home with the baby, Edie may have to resort to “Monster Face” in order to procure her meal. Once we’ve reached that point, the bottle must be ready. Or else.
Far and away the easiest time to take pictures of a new child are when they are calm and/or fast asleep. I have been able to build a small arsenal of cute sleepy baby pics. Enjoy the gallery below.
