As you may know from my innumerable social media posts, my third and final human creation was born last week, August 13 2018. His name is Arthur Joseph Lardy, he likes to go by Artie.

I realize that naming my young son Artie Lardy is a setup for future ridicule, but I wanted a long “e” sounding name for both of my babies. Call it vanity if you like. When he gets older he can be Art, or Arthur, or A. Joseph Lardy, whatever he wants, he can decide.

So Artie was born at 3:15 am on a Monday after less than 12 hours of labor, healthy and ready to go home the next day. He loves his big sister and his super big brother, dines exclusively on milk, and is an expert napper.

Even though we are only a week into the Arthur project, it’s already fascinating to observe the differences in preferences between Edie when she was newborn, and what Artie likes. Edie couldn’t stand being swaddled, but Artie has been all about it. Edie never peed all over during diaper changes, Artie is like a loose fire hose under high pressure. Edie is always warm, Artie is always cold.

It’s not all differences though. They both love to cuddle with Mom and Dad, they like to play outside together, and they are both very assertive of their opinions, just the way I like it.

Edie has been handling things very well, all things considered. A couple of days were kind of emotional for her as she’s starting to cope with sharing her parents with her brother. We bribed her with a pizza party with some grandparents, it really made her day.

Stay tuned for more antics from the house of Lardy.

For those family and friends that care, feel free and peep my gallery below, I’m sure it won’t be the last one I post.
